Kebbi First Lady Named North West Ambassador for Girl Child Education

Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, the wife of Kebbi State Governor, has been named the North West Ambassador for Girl Child Education. The title was conferred by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, during a ceremony in Birnin Kebbi.

The Sultan, who is also the Grand Patron of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), commended the First Lady for her remarkable efforts in advancing education for girls across the region. He praised her dedication to ensuring that young girls have the opportunity to return to school and pursue knowledge to any level they desire. According to the Sultan, the title is a recognition of her relentless advocacy and significant impact on education in Kebbi State and beyond.

He urged her to continue her work and make every effort to ensure girls across the North West have access to education. He emphasized the importance of empowering girls through education as a vital step toward achieving a better and more equitable society.

In addition to the ambassadorial title, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris was honored with the title of Khadimatul Qur’an by the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation of Nigeria and the Centre for Islamic Studies at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto. The title was presented during the closing ceremony of the 39th National Qur’an Recitation Competition, held at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.

The Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodio University, Professor Bashar Garba, acknowledged her steadfast dedication to promoting both religious and secular education. He noted her pivotal role in advancing Qur’anic and Islamiyyah schools in Kebbi State, enriching the spiritual lives of residents, and inspiring young women to strive for excellence.

Hajiya Zainab expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the recognition and pledged to continue her efforts in promoting girl child education and fostering moral and spiritual values. She reaffirmed her commitment to prioritizing initiatives that uplift young girls and ensure they have access to opportunities that will help them thrive academically and socially.
