Kebbi Gov't Explains Reasons for Power Shortage Despite 24/7 Promise During Ramadan

The Kebbi State Government has attributed the irregular electricity supply to its residents to a decline in the National Grid from the generation point. This issue, according to Alhaji Kabiru Sani-Giant, the Special Adviser to Gov. Nasir Idris on Power and Political Affairs, is not exclusive to Kebbi state but affects the entire nation.

Speaking to journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi, Kabiru-Giant assured that the governor had taken necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply during and after Ramadan. He acknowledged a reduction in power supply due to a nationwide energy drop and mentioned the governor’s meeting with the top management of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to address this issue.

During the meeting, the governor provided financial support to KAEDCO to ensure steady power supply during Ramadan. As part of the arrangement, specific hours have been allocated to the six feeders serving the state capital for energy distribution to consumers.

Kabiru-Giant emphasized the importance of energy for economic growth and highlighted the governor’s initiative to procure 40 new transformers to enhance electricity supply in the state. He urged electricity consumers to promptly settle their monthly bills to enable KAEDCO to purchase electricity from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
