Kebbi State Government to Provide Scholarships for Rescued Yauri Kidnapped Girls

In a commendable move to support the education of the rescued girls from the Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri, the Kebbi State Government has pledged to offer them scholarships. The State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris Kairan Gwandu, made this announcement during a courtesy visit from the Nigerian/TUILP International College, a Turkish organization, in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

The harrowing incident occurred on June 17, 2021, when a gang of bandits attacked FGC Birnin Yauri, abducting both male and female students, along with two teachers. The female students endured over a year in captivity before they were finally freed, thanks to the relentless efforts of the government and their parents.

The governor expressed his commitment to support the girls’ education, enabling them to pursue their dreams in various fields. Through this scholarship initiative, the government aims to empower these young girls to achieve their aspirations and contribute to society positively.

He specifically emphasized their focus on girl-child education, reaffirming their commitment to offering scholarships to the kidnapped Yauri girl students.

With this partnership between the Kebbi State Government and the Turkish organization, there is hope for a brighter future for the rescued girls and the state as a whole. As the government continues to invest in infrastructure and development projects, such as road construction and rehabilitation, the state’s progress is set to reach new heights.
