Kebbi State Government has taken a decisive stance against the assault on staff members of Kaduna Electric, firmly stating its commitment to prosecute anyone involved in such acts. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri mni., expressed this during a courtesy visit by senior officials from Kaduna Electric to his office. The visit aimed to address the recent incident involving military personnel who assaulted Kaduna Electric staff in Birnin Kebbi.
Emphasizing the state’s reputation as the most peaceful in Nigeria, the SSG assured the delegation of the government’s unwavering support for Kaduna Electric’s unhindered operations in Kebbi. He underlined that the Kebbi state government would not tolerate lawlessness and had already taken measures to prevent future occurrences. The government issued a notice to all security agencies, directing them to apprehend and prosecute individuals who assault or intimidate Kaduna Electric staff while performing their duties.
The SSG called upon the public to maintain patience, abide by the law, and contribute to the cause by regularly paying their electricity bills, ensuring effective service delivery from Kaduna Electric.
The leader of the Kaduna Electric delegation, Mr. Ocholi Ausa, who serves as the company’s Chief Operations Officer, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention by the state government, which facilitated the swift resolution of the crisis. He assured stakeholders that Kaduna Electric was committed to collaborating with all parties involved to find lasting solutions to the power supply challenges in Kebbi state.
Accompanying Mr. Ausa were Colonel Ubale Abubakar (rtd), the Chief Security Officer, and Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the Head of Corporate Communication.
With the Kebbi state government’s resolute stance against assaults on Kaduna Electric staff and its commitment to legal action, it is expected that such incidents will be deterred, ensuring the safety and uninterrupted functioning of the power distribution company in the state.
