In a significant move aimed at bolstering the state’s education sector, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has granted approval for the allocation of N2.408 billion towards the construction of new classrooms and the renovation of schools under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Kebbi State.
The Acting Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Hassan Umar, made this momentous announcement during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday. He highlighted the comprehensive scope of the approved projects, which are poised to transform the educational landscape in the state.

The allocation includes the construction of 86 state-of-the-art classrooms, along with the renovation of 224 existing classrooms to ensure they are equipped with modern amenities. Furthermore, a total of 7,215 sets of furniture will be supplied to facilitate a conducive learning environment for the students.
Governor Nasir Idris has also taken into account the need for improved sanitation facilities, as evidenced by the construction of 62 units of world-class toilets to maintain hygienic conditions in schools.
Addressing the importance of safety and security, the approved funds will be utilized to construct five wall fences around primary schools, enhancing protection and ensuring the safety of the students.
In a stride towards comprehensive development, one hall and two hostels will undergo renovations, adding to the overall infrastructure improvement. Moreover, three schools will be equipped with modern ICT gadgets and facilities, empowering students with essential digital skills.

Recognizing the significance of water accessibility in schools, the allocated funds will be used to drill eight motorized boreholes to provide a sustainable water supply.
The approved projects are set to be executed with remarkable efficiency, as the expected timeline for completion is within six weeks. This rapid implementation reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education for the young generation.
