Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has unveiled plans to construct new mosques and refurbish existing ones, underscoring his administration’s commitment to enhancing religious infrastructure. This announcement was made during a special prayer session in Birnin Kebbi, marking the onset of the Islamic calendar year 1446AH.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, Governor Idris emphasized the significance of religious affairs in the state’s governance. He highlighted unprecedented steps taken by his administration, including the establishment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the retention of the Office of the Special Adviser on Religion. Additionally, three Islamic boards the Zakkat Board, Hisbah Board, and Preaching Board have been enacted into law and are now operational.
Governor Idris stressed that these initiatives are integral to improving the quality of life for adherents of all faiths in Kebbi State. He acknowledged the contributions of religious leaders and urged them to continue offering prayers for societal advancement.
