The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially opened the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) portal for trainers and training centers to apply for accreditation under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme 2026.

About the NBTE TVET Programme

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), under the Federal Ministry of Education, is responsible for regulating and supervising technical and vocational education in Nigeria. Who Can Apply

The Federal Government invites applications from the following categories:

  • Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Requirements for Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)

To qualify, institutions must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  • Must use National Skills Qualification (NSQ) approved training curriculum
  • Must have qualified instructors available for each training trade
  • Must maintain proper instructor-to-student ratio
  • Must have internal quality control personnel to ensure training standards

Requirements for Skill Training Centres (STCs)

Skill Training Centres must:

  • Be officially registered with CAC
  • Follow approved NSQ training curriculum
  • Have qualified trainers or experienced certified artisans
  • Maintain proper quality assurance systems
  • Provide suitable training facilities

Requirements for Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Individual trainers or artisans must:

  • Have CAC registration or National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Possess relevant skill certification and training experience
  • Use approved training curriculum
  • Provide a suitable learning environment
  • Have records of previous training activities
