NELFUND Releases List of 203 Institutions That Failed to Upload Students’ Data for 2024/2025 Loan

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released the names of 203 tertiary institutions across Nigeria that have not yet uploaded their students’ data onto the official student loan system for the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to NELFUND, this delay has hindered thousands of students from accessing the government’s interest-free student loan scheme, which is designed to support undergraduates and help them continue their education without financial barriers.
To ensure inclusiveness, the Fund announced the reopening of its Student Loan Application System (SLAS) for a limited 48-hour window, beginning from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and ending at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
This temporary reopening gives all non-compliant institutions one final opportunity to upload and verify their students’ records before the loan portal closes for the current cycle.
A statement from the agency’s communications office emphasized that failure to comply within the given timeframe would result in the affected institutions being excluded from the ongoing loan process. Consequently, students from such institutions would lose eligibility to apply for the NELFUND loan in this cycle.
The Fund stressed that every tertiary institution—federal, state, and private—has a responsibility to ensure accurate student verification through the Student Loan Application System to maintain transparency and fairness.
The list of defaulting institutions includes several federal universities, state universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education and health sciences spread across the country. Among those listed are major institutions such as University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Bayero University Kano, University of Ilorin, and Ambrose Alli University, among others.
NELFUND advised management of these institutions to act promptly, warning that the agency will not grant any further extensions after the new deadline.

This move is part of NELFUND’s renewed effort to ensure a smooth rollout of the student loan initiative for the 2024/2025 academic year and to guarantee that no qualified student is left behind due to administrative delays.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to providing easy and transparent access to education financing, urging schools to prioritize student welfare and national educational progress.
Why This Matters
The student loan program remains one of the Federal Government’s key strategies to reduce dropout rates and promote equal access to higher education. Each institution’s cooperation is vital to ensure that all eligible students can benefit from the ₦150 billion loan allocation approved for this session.
Students and parents are therefore advised to confirm whether their schools have completed the necessary uploads before the portal closes.
