how to apply for nelfund student loan

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a public alert warning students and the general public to beware of a fraudulent loan portal circulating online, falsely claiming to be endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement released on Monday by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND described the message as false, misleading, and a cyber fraud attempt aimed at deceiving unsuspecting students.

“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” Oluwatuyi stated.

The fraudulent message links to a fake website:

According to NELFUND, this link is entirely fake, and users should not click on it or submit any personal or financial information. The Fund reaffirmed that the only official portal for student loan applications is:
https://nelf.gov.ng

How to Verify NELFUND Communications

To protect students and applicants from scams, NELFUND emphasized that it will never use unofficial channels for announcements or application instructions. All communications are made only through its verified digital platforms:

Students, parents, and guardians are advised to double-check any information before taking action and are encouraged to report suspicious websites or messages via email:

NELFUND Reaffirms Its Commitment

Oluwatuyi noted that NELFUND is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, and security in the student loan application process. The Fund assures the public that it is taking proactive steps to protect students from fraud and disinformation.

“We remain fully committed to a safe, fair, and transparent loan process. We encourage everyone to ignore misleading content and rely solely on our verified platforms,” she concluded.
