The National Population Commission (NPC) has outlined a comprehensive compensation package for its ad hoc staff who will be involved in the upcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census. The package includes allowances for feeding, transport, and training, as well as a main salary after the completion of the census exercise.
The Director of Census Department, Mrs. Evelyn Arinola Olanipekun, has announced that the NPC ad hoc staff will receive three types of allowances.
How Much Is The NPC Allowance?
The first allowance is for feeding, which is divided into two categories. Specialized Workforce (SWF) will receive N2,000 per day for 13 days, which includes 3 days of SWF and 10 days of state training. However, states that did not observe the first 3 days are exempted. This means that the total feeding allowance for SWF is N26,000. State Facilitators, on the other hand, will receive N2,000 per person per day for 10 days, which means a total feeding allowance of N20,000.
The second allowance is for transport, which is a flat rate of N20,000 per person for all categories of census functionaries.
The third allowance is for training, which is also divided into two categories. Trainers will receive N15,000 per day for 13 days for SWF and 10 days for state facilitators. Trainees, on the other hand, will receive N10,000 per day for 13 days for SWF and 10 days for state facilitators.
Payment for the allowances will be made twice, as follows: Transport and feeding allowance for SWF is N46,000, while that of state facilitators is N40,000. The training allowance for the trainer for SWF is N195,000, while that of the trainee for SWF is N130,000. For state facilitators, the training allowance for the trainer is N150,000, while that of the trainee is N100,000.
The allowances will also apply to other categories, such as enumerators and supervisors, but with a shorter number of training days and a slight reduction in the amount. On average, the total allowances for specialized workforce, facilitators, enumerators, supervisors, and other census functionaries range from N50,000 to N100,000.
How Much Is The NPC Salary?
In addition to the allowances, NPC ad hoc staff will also receive a main salary, which will be paid after the completion of the census exercise. The main salary ranges from N50,000 to N250,000, depending on the position of the census functionary.
The facilitators will receive a main salary ranging from N150,000 to N300,000, while field coordinators will receive a salary ranging from N140,000 to N280,000. Quality Assurance Assistants/Rovers will receive a salary ranging from N130,000 to N280,000, while supervisors will receive a salary ranging from N130,000 to N230,000. Enumerators will receive a salary ranging from N100,000 to N220,000. Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will receive a salary ranging from N150,000 to N300,000.
The NPC has ensured that its ad hoc staff will be compensated fairly for their efforts during the census exercise. The compensation package is comprehensive, including allowances for feeding, transport, and training, as well as a main salary. The allowances and main salary vary depending on the position of the census functionary, with the facilitators, field coordinators, and monitoring and evaluation officers receiving the highest compensation, followed by quality assurance assistants/rovers, supervisors, and enumerators.
