Plateau State Introduces 22 Air-Conditioned Buses for Abuja-Jos Route

Plateau State has unveiled a significant upgrade to its transportation network with the introduction of 22 modern buses for the Abuja-Jos route. Equipped with cutting-edge tracking systems to ensure passenger safety and comfort, these buses represent a substantial investment in improving mobility and economic connectivity between the state capital and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang led the unveiling ceremony in Jos, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to delivering efficient logistics solutions for citizens and residents. The incorporation of a mobile booking app marks a step forward in embracing digital technology to streamline the booking process and enhance overall customer experience.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Transportation, Jatau Gyang Davou, outlined plans to transform the transportation sector into a revenue-generating entity, drawing inspiration from successful models observed in other states, notably Lagos. Additionally, assurances were given regarding the imminent commencement of rail transportation services pending resolutions with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

Samuel Gwot, General Manager of Plateau Express Service Limited (PESL), detailed the diverse options available to passengers, including the Gida Gida Express Coaster Bus and the air-conditioned Toyota Sienna. With trained drivers, enhanced security features, and improved customer experiences, these transportation services aim to meet the evolving needs of commuters.

Furthermore, the establishment of multiple revenue channels, such as Plateau Riders Services Limited and Plateau Express Logistics Limited, reflects the state’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and economic growth.

The introduction of these buses signifies a proactive approach by Plateau State towards modernizing transportation infrastructure, fostering economic development, and enhancing the overall well-being of its citizens and residents.
