“Then the financial system was rotten. Few people were making bags of our money, and you yourself, you stopped sending money home to our poor parents. Several windows…but that is gone now, it’s gone,” President Tinubu remarked.
While not delving into specific details, Tinubu indicated that actions were being taken by the relevant authorities regarding the suspended CBN governor. He expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved, saying, “The man is in the hands of authorities, something is being done about that, they will sort themselves out.”
President Tinubu’s remarks shed light on the concerns and frustrations faced by Nigerians in the diaspora regarding the financial system and the impact it had on remittances. His statement underscores the need for a transparent and efficient financial system that supports the Nigerian diaspora in sending money to their relatives back home without unnecessary obstacles.
The suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has yet to respond to President Tinubu’s criticism. However, the nation eagerly awaits further developments regarding Emefiele’s suspension and the potential reforms that may be implemented in Nigeria’s financial system.
