In a bid to address the impact of subsidy removal and provide genuine relief to the Nigerian masses, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the esteemed leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to consider raising the minimum wage to N100,000. This suggestion comes as a practical alternative to the recently announced N8,000 palliatives intended for 12 million households.
Primate Ayodele, through his media aide Osho Oluwatosin, expressed concerns that the proposed N8,000 palliatives would be prone to corruption, resulting in a failure to reach the impoverished masses who genuinely require assistance. He firmly believes that the palliatives will have minimal impact due to pervasive corruption among politicians, rendering the efforts futile.
The influential spiritual leader asserted that increasing the minimum wage to N100,000 would effectively alleviate the burden of subsidy removal and inflation on the populace. Primate Ayodele emphasized that this move would directly benefit the people, surpassing the limited scope and potential pitfalls of the N8,000 palliatives.

“While the government’s intentions may be well-meaning, the proposed N8,000 palliative program is an invitation to corruption and will not effectively reach the intended beneficiaries,” stated Primate Ayodele. “The governors will likely exploit these funds for their own personal gain, leaving the poor masses to suffer.”
He continued, “To genuinely address the plight of the majority, the government should prioritize increasing the minimum wage to N100,000. Such a measure will significantly alleviate the impact of subsidy removal and inflation. An augmented minimum wage will directly benefit the people and ensure their well-being, unlike the limited and potentially misused palliatives.”
Primate Ayodele’s proposal aligns with the pressing concerns of many Nigerians, who are grappling with the consequences of subsidy removal. His solution seeks to provide a sustainable approach to address the challenges faced by the populace, reflecting his deep-rooted commitment to their welfare.
