The Kebbi State Government has distributed 200 trucks of essential food items and agricultural inputs to residents across the state as part of its Ramadan palliative program. The initiative aims to support citizens during the fasting period and enhance food security.
Speaking at the distribution event held at Haliru Abdul Stadium, Governor Nasiru Idris assured that all segments of society, including civil servants, teachers, local government staff, security agencies, traditional institutions, and vulnerable groups such as widows, would benefit from the relief program.
He strongly warned against the diversion or sale of the items, urging the distribution committee to ensure fairness and transparency. The governor emphasized that accountability in this exercise extends beyond government oversight, reminding officials that they would be answerable before Allah for any misconduct.
In addition to the food distribution, Governor Idris launched the 2025 dry season farming initiative and the distribution of farm inputs to boost agricultural productivity in the state.
Items distributed include:
- 10,000 solar-powered water pumps
- 10,000 gasoline-powered water pumps
- 3,000 LPG-powered water pumps
- 3,000 power tillers
- 10,000 knapsack sprayers
- 10,000 liters each of herbicides, pesticides, and organic fertilizers
- Improved rice seeds and assorted fertilizers
The event attracted thousands of farmers, government officials, and stakeholders, reaffirming the state’s commitment to both immediate food relief and long-term agricultural development.
