The recent attack on a Customs office in the Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State has raised concerns about security and law enforcement in the region. A combined team of Yauri outstation and surveillance responded to reports of suspected smuggling activity at Yauri Waterside, seizing 41 bags of foreign parboiled rice. However, the operation triggered a violent response from aggrieved smugglers who mobilized hoodlums to launch an assault on the outpost.

According to Mohammed Salisu, the attack occurred during the late hours of Thursday, March 21, 2024, around 23:10 hours. He highlighted the sequence of events, starting from the interception of smuggled goods to the subsequent mob attack orchestrated by the smugglers. The incident underscores the risks faced by Customs officers in carrying out their duties to combat smuggling and maintain border security.
