President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dissolved the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, following allegations of irregularities in appointing key officials. The decision was announced in Abuja through a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The council, led by Ambassador Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, was accused of appointing Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh as Vice-Chancellor and Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike as Registrar without following due process. This alleged breach of the university’s governing laws created tensions between the institution’s Senate and its council.

These actions reflect the administration’s commitment to upholding transparency, accountability, and integrity in Nigeria’s educational institutions.
