In a groundbreaking initiative, the University of Ottawa in Canada has unveiled an impressive $11 million scholarship fund specifically tailored for African students pursuing undergraduate studies. The scholarships, categorized as Entrance and Excellence, are open to students from Africa and other English-speaking countries, set to commence their studies in the Fall 2024 term.
The four-year scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden of tuition costs for deserving students. Unlike traditional scholarships, this program not only rewards pre-university academic achievements but also acknowledges accomplishments throughout each term of full-time study at the University of Ottawa.

The scholarship program offers African students studying in English access to a range of pilot programs across three faculties, all at a significantly reduced cost of tuition. The scholarship amounts vary based on the admission average and the faculty offering the program.
To qualify for the Excellence scholarship, candidates must go through a competitive process, with priority given to those with an admission average of 90% or higher. The application deadline for admission and scholarship consideration is April 1, 2024, with admission processing completed by April 15, 2024.
It’s important to note that the Entrance scholarship cannot be combined with the Excellence Scholarship for African Students Studying in English. Priority will be given to candidates who choose the University of Ottawa as their first choice.

Eligible international students must fulfill certain criteria, including being citizens of any African country, newly admitted for the Fall 2024 term, and enrolled full-time in one of the eligible undergraduate programs offered in English.
The application process is straightforward: interested students can apply through the provided link https://www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/. After submitting an application, the university will generate a Student Number, which applicants will use to log into the school’s portal, UOZone. Subsequently, students can submit their academic results and documents for review. Upon a successful review, candidates will receive a conditional admission offer, including details about the scholarship, depending on their academic average.
The deadline for applications is April 1, 2024, providing prospective students with an opportunity to secure their place at the University of Ottawa and benefit from this significant scholarship initiative.
