Eligibility Criteria for the MTN Scholarship Scheme
Institution of Study
The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) and the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) are available to students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Starting in 2024, the number of scholarships for blind students will increase from 60 to 100. Additionally, the annual scholarship amount has been raised from N200,000 to N300,000, awarded until graduation, provided academic requirements are maintained.

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
This scholarship is open to 300-level students studying science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
This scholarship is available to 200 and 300-level blind students enrolled in any course at Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
Level of Study
MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
Applicants must have completed their second-semester 200-level examinations and be advancing to 300 level. Current 300-level students are also eligible, considering the varying academic calendars across institutions.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
This scholarship is open to 200 and 300-level blind students in public tertiary institutions. For blind students studying law, only those in their 300 level can apply due to the course’s five-year duration.

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
- STEM students in universities and colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper).
- STEM students in polytechnics need a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from their OND program and must have secured admission into an HND program.
- Direct entry-level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from their OND program and must be admitted to the 300 level in a university.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
- Blind students in universities or colleges of education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Blind students in polytechnics need a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from their OND program and must have secured admission into an HND program.
Application Deadline and Benefits
The deadline for the MTN Scholarship Scheme applications is June 12th, 2024. Successful applicants will receive an annual scholarship amount of N300,000 until graduation, provided they meet the academic requirements.
