About the Role
The consultant will lead the Nigerian Education Data Initiative (NEDI) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), state education ministries, and other development partners. This initiative aims to create a robust, unified national education database that addresses ongoing issues in data fragmentation and gaps in Nigeria’s education sector.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Education and development partners to plan the harmonization of data systems.
- Reviewing current education data systems to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure the creation of a unified education databank.
- Providing strategic direction for the design and deployment of a comprehensive national education database.
- Overseeing the development of policies and standards for data collection and reporting in line with Nigeria’s national education goals.
- Promoting seamless data sharing and integration among government agencies, state ministries, and educational institutions.
- Building capacity by training Federal-level Ministry of Education staff in data collection, management, and analysis.

What You Will Need to Succeed
To succeed in this role, candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:
- A Master’s degree in Education, ICT, Public Policy, Social Science, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience working with government ministries on education data systems, harmonization, and digitalization.
- Strong knowledge of Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) and data reporting processes.
- Proven experience in implementing EMIS or similar education data initiatives in collaboration with government agencies.
- Excellent communication and training skills to guide teams and stakeholders.
