Edo Governor Raises Minimum Wage to ₦75,000

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has increased the minimum wage for state workers from ₦70,000 to ₦75,000. The announcement was made during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Speaking at the event, the governor said the wage raise is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of workers in the state. He thanked the workforce for their dedication and promised continued support for their welfare.

Since taking office, Governor Okpebholo has implemented several initiatives to support workers. These include converting over 1,000 casual staff into permanent roles, hiring 500 new teachers, and reviewing the status of more than 3,000 others for possible full-time employment.

In the healthcare sector, the state has recruited 450 clinical and non-clinical staff and regularized 126 contract workers at the Edo State Specialist Hospital.

The governor also extended appreciation to workers in all sectors and emphasized the vital role they play in the growth and development of Edo State.
