Gov. Idris Commissions Indoor Badminton Hall, Pledges Continued Investment in Sports

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has officially commissioned a new Indoor Badminton Hall in Birnin Kebbi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sports development.

Speaking at the event, the Governor emphasized the importance of badminton in promoting unity, love, and socioeconomic growth. He highlighted that the sport allows players of all ages, including veterans, to compete at various levels.

Governor Idris recalled that previous editions of the annual Kauran Gwandu National Badminton Competition were held in Abuja due to the lack of a standard facility in Kebbi. With the commissioning of the new hall, he announced that this year’s edition would be hosted in Birnin Kebbi. He directed event organizers to begin preparations, stressing that Kebbi State will continue to gain national and international recognition in badminton and other sports.

The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Muslim, commended the Governor for his unwavering support in realizing the project. He acknowledged Kebbi’s strong reputation in badminton, with legendary players such as Fatauci, and noted that the new facility further solidifies the state’s position in the sport.

Similarly, Alhaji Zubairu Sidi, Chairman of the CSDP Badminton Club, expressed appreciation for the Governor’s visionary leadership. He assured that the facility would be fully utilized to bring more glory to Kebbi, Nigeria, and Africa. He also praised Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim for his continuous support of the club’s activities.

The commissioning ceremony featured an exciting match by the Kauran Gwandu Youth Academy. Governor Idris was also presented with a souvenir in recognition of his contributions to badminton development in Kebbi.

With this new facility, Kebbi State is set to enhance its sports infrastructure, providing a platform for athletes to thrive and compete at higher levels.
