
In a significant development aimed at ensuring a seamless and well-organized Hajj pilgrimage, the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has named former governor Saidu Dakingari as the Amirul Hajj for the state’s 2024 delegation. This crucial announcement was disclosed by Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, in a statement released to the press in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
The appointment of Dakingari to lead the delegation underscores the state government’s commitment to facilitating a successful Hajj exercise for its citizens. Alongside Dakingari, the team will be supported by Alhaji Malami Shekare-Muhammad, the Permanent Secretary in the State Cabinet Office, who will serve as the secretary of the delegation. Additionally, Justice Umar Abubakar has been appointed as the Deputy Amirul Hajj for the upcoming pilgrimage.

Their responsibilities extend beyond mere supervision; they are entrusted with ensuring compliance with agreements between the state Pilgrims Welfare Board, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and airline operators. Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo reiterated that the delegation’s mandate includes advising the Pilgrims Welfare Board on all matters crucial to the smooth conduct of the Hajj operation.
