MultiChoice Nigeria has reduced the price of its DStv decoder from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 in a new effort to attract more subscribers and reverse declining numbers. The offer is part of the company’s “We Got You” campaign aimed at making DStv more accessible to the average Nigerian.
The company’s CEO, John Ugbe, said the new price structure is designed to reward customer loyalty and bring more value to subscribers. According to him, the initiative is also a way of repositioning DStv as a daily entertainment platform for all, not just for sports lovers.
In addition to the price slash, MultiChoice is offering a promotional upgrade to subscribers who pay their current plan in full between June 16 and July 31, 2025. Those eligible will be moved to a higher-tier package at no extra cost.

MultiChoice said the changes were necessary due to economic pressure on households and to keep entertainment affordable and engaging. The company had previously raised prices three times within one year, with hikes in April 2023, November 2023, and May 2024.
These adjustments came after MultiChoice reported losing 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025. The decoder discount and free upgrade are now seen as key steps to reverse that trend.
The campaign also promotes DStv’s wide content range — from local drama and news to kids’ programming and movies — in a bid to get customers to explore more of what the platform offers every day.
