The Nafisa Nasiru Charity Development Foundation (NANAS) celebrated the 2023 International Day of the Girl in style, bringing together female students from the heart of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. The event took place at the Kawara Sports and Recreational Center and was marked by a resounding call to action: “INVEST IN GIRLS’ RIGHTS: OUR LEADERSHIP AND WELLBEING.”
The Chairperson of NANAS and wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris, graced the occasion with her presence. She delivered an inspiring speech, urging the students to take their studies seriously and pursue their dreams with unwavering determination. She emphasized the importance of the International Day of the Girl, a day designated by UNICEF to advocate for the full spectrum of girls’ rights.

Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris also took a moment to appreciate the dedicated teachers who impart knowledge to the students. She extended her blessings to them and assured that the current administration would persist in its efforts to elevate the educational standards in Kebbi State.
Alhaji Aminuddeen Attahiru, the Chairman of the NANAS Foundation, delivered a warm welcome address. He explained the foundation’s commitment to celebrating the International Day of the Girl with the female students, recognizing them as the mothers of tomorrow. One of the primary objectives of the foundation is to promote the development of girls and women within the state.
Several dignitaries joined in to support the cause. Notable figures like the wife of the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Maryam Umar Tafida, the wife of the SSG, Hajiya Asmau Alkali, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Bala, Manager of UBA Bank in Birnin Kebbi branch, and Hajiya Zinatu Yusuf expressed their gratitude to the Governor’s wife for organizing the event. They called upon the girls to concentrate on their studies and stay away from social vices to become valuable contributors to society.

The celebration was marked by generous contributions. Each student received school bags filled with books, sanitary pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pens, food, and soft drinks. The day featured educational lectures, cash donations, captivating drama presentations, student displays, and lively music and dance performances.
