The screening process is entirely online and follows a streamlined procedure outlined by the university. To kickstart the process, candidates are required to visit the university’s official portal at https://portal.ssu.edu.ng. Using their JAMB Registration Number as both the username and password, candidates are directed to update their contact details, including phone numbers and email addresses.
A key step in the process involves generating and printing a screening payment invoice amounting to Two Thousand Naira (2,000 NGN), excluding transaction charges. This invoice contains the Unified Payment (UP) Reference Number required for payment. Candidates can choose to make the payment at any commercial bank using the invoice or opt for the convenience of instant Unified Payment channels accessible via the ‘Pay Now’ link.
Upon successful payment, candidates are instructed to log back into their accounts to update their biodata, academic records, and other necessary information. They are then advised to print their acknowledgment slip and payment receipt for documentation purposes.
Direct Entry (DE) candidates are further required to upload scanned copies of their A’level certificates or notifications of results onto the university portal. This step ensures that the admission process is comprehensive and considers all relevant qualifications.

Sokoto State University remains committed to providing a seamless and transparent admission process for eligible candidates aspiring to join its academic community. The Registrar, Mrs. K. A. Nuhu, assures prospective students that the online screening exercise is designed to facilitate a fair evaluation of applicants and encourage a smooth transition into the university’s academic programs.
