Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Opens Vacancy for Registrar Position

Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, has officially announced the opening for the position of Registrar, which will become vacant on 20th January, 2026. The institution invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who meet the outlined requirements.

Role of the Registrar

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Polytechnic. The individual in this role will be directly responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the institution. The Registrar will head the Registry Department, oversee the custody of Polytechnic records, and serve as the Secretary to the Council, Academic Board, Management Committee, and other statutory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a first degree with at least a second-class lower division or an HND with upper credit in Social Sciences, Education, Arts, Humanities, or related fields.
  • At least 22 years of post-qualification experience for degree/HND holders, or 19 years for Master’s degree holders, or 13 years for Ph.D. holders, with at least 10 years spent in a Polytechnic or related institution.
  • Registration with a recognized professional body such as NIPR or NIM.
  • Must currently be a Deputy Registrar with a minimum of five years of experience in a higher institution.
  • Competence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • Not more than 59 years of age at the time of application.
  • Proven leadership, administrative ability, and good knowledge of Public Service Rules.
  • Must provide evidence of membership in professional associations.
  • Must be of good character, integrity, and free from any form of financial embarrassment.
  • Must be mentally and physically fit.

Terms of Appointment

The appointment is for a single five-year term, in line with government regulations. The Registrar will not be eligible for renewal and will enjoy similar conditions of service as other Principal Officers of Federal Polytechnics.

Method of Application

Interested candidates should submit 20 copies of their application letter, curriculum vitae, and photocopies of relevant documents. Applications must include details such as:

  • Full name, date/place of birth, state of origin, marital status, number of children.
  • Contact information, educational qualifications, work experience, academic publications, membership of professional bodies, and evidence of administrative competence.
  • Names of three referees, who will send confidential reports directly to the Registrar.
